CRS McGrath – En Route to RS Space
12:17 Ship Time

Colonel Vykk Tharen listened to the Comm Officer briefed him on the transmissions that had started coming in almost an hour ago. “Sir, a stray signal or two and I’d pass it off as ship-to-ship, but this is too much and it’s all centered in a Sector that was clear when we came through this way.”

“Yes. Too much to ignore.” Vykk rubbed his chin as he decided to wake Spokes. “Thank you Lieutenant, keep monitoring these and get to work cracking this cipher.”

“Aye, Sir.”

Spokes had been aboard the McGrath just a few hours and had only just fallen into a shallow sleep when a soft knock sounded through his cabin. Squelch promptly added a little tweedle to let him know that someone wanted his attention. Spokes couldn’t help but smile to himself when the thought crossed his mind that the droid had been rendered redundant by a simple human hand movement. Not that Squelch would appreciate the humor...

“Come.”

“Sorry about this, but I think we’ve stumbled across a hot zone.” Vykk said as he entered and sat at Spokes desk. “Someone is creating a lot of chatter where no one is supposed to be.”

“Sorta like in my cabin.” Spokes said as he rolled up on one elbow so that he could see Vykk better. “Any idea who?”

“Sounds Imperial to me or you’d still be asleep.” Vykk smiled.

“Aye. Copy that. Send in an A-Wing and make sure they understand that we need the intel more than they need to rack up kills. And, just to mess with the Imps a bit, make sure to knock out any ComSats in the Sector. It’ll slow them down until we can analyze the reconn data.”

“Consider it done. I shouldn’t need to wake you again for awhile....”
